Thomas Daniell
Japanseminar Thomas Daniell I Thomas Daniell lives and works with its own office in
Kyoto. He was a member of the architects-group FOBA and is an expert of traditional as
well as modern contemporary Japanese architecture. He is internationally-active writing
on Japanese architecture and operates worldwide on lectures, symposia and exhibitions.
Thomas Daniell offers an intensive three-day seminar about Japanese architecture.
First sequence: Traditional Japanese buildings as historical basis for understanding
the development of Japanese architecture.
Second sequence: Current architectural trends and tendencies.

第一节 City in Japan
首先,跟西方的首都相比,比如罗马和巴黎,东京更加倾向于一种混沌和无视规划的特征。没有传统的轴线以及广场,接到没有名称(比如二町目之类的名字。。。。),房屋的门牌号是根据建成时间来定的,而不是根据地理为止,据说这样很容易迷路,所以街道上有大把的警察给大家指路-_-b
其实日本的城市,包括东京,是有很好的重建机会的;战后,在经过战火和火灾的洗礼后,城市的重建是可以有多种可能性的。当时新的规划理念业已开始流行,Le Corb也已经体验了大尺度的乐趣,新的住宅规范也已经开始蔓延在整个西方世界。然而日本却更加倾向于按照原来的尺度和轨迹翻新城市。也许这和日本严格的土地私有制度有关,因为在Seoul也有类似的情况出现。但是Tom(Thomas Daniell)宁愿撇开文化的范畴来讨论这个现象,他认为用文化的因素来回答这个问题其实是回避问题的本质,因为仿佛任何东西方差异的现象都而可以以文化儿一言概之。

日本通常以两种面孔展现在大家面前(正如菊与刀),一个是如日本的枯山水般的禅意庭院;一个是如银座,秋叶原,以及庙会时那种人山人海,夜如白昼的画面。
